Operational Efficiency Success Story

Information Technology Strategic Planning

Business Situation

  • The client is the CIO of the Shared Services division of a major financial services company.
  • The client requested assistance in producing an Information Technology (IT) strategic plan.
  • The Revere Group was engaged to provide guidance, leadership, approach, information gathering, consolidation and analysis to develop the plan.

Key Issues

  • Past strategic planning efforts had been difficult since the division was largely consumed with operational priorities and short-term initiatives.
  • The group lacked a consistent approach and relevant materials for strategic planning.

Outcomes

  • For each IT Director’s supported business lines, Revere provided consolidated information pertaining to the business-to-IT intersections relative to current state of success and issues, internal and external forces, industry and competitive trends and innovations, and the desired future state.
  • The Revere Group’s executives worked with IT Directors to prioritize recommendations for the coming 18-24 months with a 60 month horizon.
  • IT Directors obtained a better understanding of the drivers, pressures, issues, and aspirations of their peers and thus pursued a more unified service strategy for their Shared Services division, CIO and business partners.
