Microsoft BizTalk integration of multi-vendor EMR/Revenue Cycle Solution
Business Situation
The client is a leading not-for-profit addiction treatment center.
The client’s leadership team selected a multi-vendor solution to replace HIS due to a specific requirement needed to support the organizations Revenue Cycle management and Clinical EMR functions.
Key Issues
The organization did not have the technical and project management skills to implement an integrated solution.
The current EMR was paper-driven and did not offer automated system alerts/reminders.
Billing and ancillary charge capture processes were performed manually.
Management reporting was limited and cumbersome.
The client’s legacy HIS system (SATIS) was no longer being supported.
Staff members were duplicating data-entry into multiple systems in admission and insurance-related data.
The client had a limited budget and narrow IT skill sets within the organization.
There was an overall lack of knowledge with integrating HL7 transactions between clinical and revenue cycle systems.
Outcomes
The Revere Group developed and executed an integrated implementation plan that supported an integrated approach for vendor-specific design, configuration/testing, and deployment for 3 vendor solutions.
Revere also established a future state solution roadmap that identified vendor modules, core processes, and integration points using a multi-vendor solution.
The client now has improved manual EMR-related processes to leverage the strategic investment.
