Migration for a Large Merchandising Supply Chain Company in the Midwest

Business Situation

• A new financial package drove a need to migrate core e-mail package Lotus Notes 6 to Microsoft Exchange 2003

• The client’s current Lotus Notes system needed inordinate amount of time to maintain, client was apprehensive regarding future state of critical communication system
• The assessment of Lotus Notes system indicated heavy mailbox database corruption, making one pass migration challenging
• The client had a very diverse workstation environment including, Apple Macs, Linux, and Windows
• No standardized workstation load, multiple versions of Microsoft Office, none with Outlook installed
• Five remote sites with no local support

Outcomes

• The Revere Group replicated entire Lotus Notes environment including Microsoft Active Directory domain utilizing virtual technology and performed migration testing offline
• Migration testing allowed for the discovery and correction of Lotus Notes database issues, and highlighted areas where issues would occur, making planning of the migration more accurate
